The KDM Hire Cookstown 100 is just three days away from the opening practice sessions, and the organising Cookstown & District Motor Cycle Club is urging fans to support the event by purchasing an official programme – priced at just £10 [€15].
The event programme, which is one of the main sources of income at the KDM Cookstown 100 is packed with information on the weekend event, and includes features on the late Milton Thom – the local businessman who had a great affinity for road racing and the Cookstown 100 in general.
There’s a pictorial review of last year’s KDM Cookstown 100 and an interesting feature from our press officer Baylon McCaughey on a Youth Development Team.
Harry Havelin has penned an interesting feature on Ballymena’s legendary two-wheeled star Billy McCosh, who he describes as ‘one of the ‘Big Four’ from the 1960s’ along with Dick Creith, Len Ireland and Ian McGregor.
Harry also takes up back sixty years in another superb feature to the 25th running of the Cookstown 100, which is backed up by a historical resume of the event in the latter part of the programme – with some interesting images of the first post-war event in 1946.
Those no longer with us are also honoured in the official programme, which can be purchased from many locations around the 2.1-mile Orritor Circuit during the event on Friday and Saturday.
Remember roads close for Friday practice and racing at 12 noon and re-open at 9.30pm [approximately].
On Race Day Saturday roads close at 10am sharp with a full 15-race programme scheduled. Roads will re-open at 7.30pm.
